How to Clean and Maintain Your Carbon Fiber Pool Cue

One of the biggest advantages of a carbon fiber pool cue is how easy it is to maintain. Unlike wood cues that require special care, a carbon fiber shaft stays straight, doesn't warp, and resists dents. But even low-maintenance cues need some care to perform their best.

Daily Care

After each session, wipe your carbon fiber shaft with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. This removes chalk dust, oils, and moisture from your hands. That's really all you need for day-to-day maintenance.

Deep Cleaning (Monthly)

For a deeper clean once a month:

  1. Dampen a microfiber cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher)
  2. Wipe the shaft from tip to joint, rotating as you go
  3. Dry immediately with a clean cloth
  4. Apply a tiny amount of cue wax or shaft conditioner if desired — but this is optional for carbon fiber

Important: Never use abrasive cleaners, sandpaper, or steel wool on a carbon fiber shaft. The slick factory finish is part of what makes it play so smoothly.

Caring for the Grip

Transk cues feature a soft lambskin grip on the butt. To keep it in good condition:

  • Wipe with a slightly damp cloth after sweaty sessions
  • Let it air dry completely before putting in the case
  • Avoid excessive moisture — it can break down the leather over time

Storage Tips

  • Always store in a cue case when not in use
  • Avoid extreme temperatures (don't leave in a hot car)
  • Store vertically or horizontally — carbon fiber won't warp either way, unlike wood

The Bottom Line

A carbon fiber cue is the easiest-to-maintain option on the market. A quick wipe after play and a monthly deep clean is enough to keep your Transk cue performing like new for years.
